This project was originally led by automotive designer Antonio Marinella for CAV (Cape Advanced Vehicles), with the goal of reinterpreting the iconic Ford GT40 Mk II as a modern restomod. Marlon had the opportunity to briefly explore ideas with his team, although his involvement did not continue through the completion of the project. Presented here are his own design direction and interpretation, which differs from the final outcome developed by the team.
CAV is a premier restomod firm that specializes in the meticulous restoration and skilled craftsmanship required for the iconic Ford GT40. This focus has inspired the company to embark on an exciting journey, envisioning its unique interpretation of Ford's automotive legacy

Direction
One of the primary challenges encountered during the project was the use of a modern vehicle with a different wheelbase as the base model. However, thanks to the accessibility of the Audi R8, it became the preferred donor vehicle for the project. Numerous iterations of the vehicle's design were explored to elevate the architecture of the Mark 2 while preserving the Audi R8's geometry.
Research of porportions with in the package limitations
Marinella initially guided the vehicle's direction, which was then fine-tuned based on the client's feedback. This iterative process of collaboration allowed the project to naturally evolve into its final form.
